In Ethiopia, many health extension workers have been trained by the Integrated Family Health Program to provide long-acting family planning service in rural parts of the country. Tatek Abate is a midwifery nurse and a participants GFMER’s training course in Sexual and Reproductive Health Research proposes this picture that shows a health extension worker, who is inserting Implanon into a young woman’s left arm at the Beyeda Health Center in Ethiopia. This is an effective hormonal contraceptive implant made of one flexible rod, inserted under the skin with a duration of three years. We appreciate the hard work of health extension workers despite of challenging situation and environment.
