Joan is a highly motivated and assertive individual with over 25years of work experience as a midwife and currently a Midwifery Educator. In her capacity as a Regional Resource Trainer for the Safe Motherhood programme in Ghana, she has facilitated several workshops and trainings on EmONC for practicing midwives in her region and engages in supportive supervision of peers and students midwives in the clinical area.

She is very passionate about positive sexual and reproductive health outcomes especially in the area of maternal, neonatal and child health and an ardent advocate for client’s “rights” / satisfaction and Quality Assurance.

She takes advantage of her many years of experience and serves as a role model and mentor to her students, igniting their passion to work with their hearts, minds and hands using knowledge, skills and good attitude.

She is a lifelong learner, who would like to network with midwives and other health professionals to share knowledge and experience and most importantly to effect positive change. She volunteers and helps organize and implement health related programmes for several NGOs in her region. She has special interest in the health and wellbeing of rural folks.

Her career interest is to advance her ability to effectively and efficiently influence future directions in midwifery as a scientific and humanistic discipline through research.
