Deki Pem was born on 6th September 1972. Her academic training includes Diploma in General Nurse and Midwife from Royal Institute of Health Sciences (RIHS), Bsc in Nursing, Post Graduate Diploma in Midwifery and Master in Nursing Science in Child, Family and Community from La Trobe University, Australia.
She has been working as the Associate Lecturer at RIHS, teaching nursing and midwifery for past fourteen years. She is also one of the technical advisors to the Ministry of Health related to mother and child health and has conducted numerous training activities for the field staff in the subject matter.
She is one of the pioneers in bringing humility and compassion to the health practices by training students and faculty members on human values and its principles.
