Dr. Ashim Roy (Andrew) was born on June 24, 1967. He completed Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1994 from the University of Dhaka. In 2010, he was awarded Master of Public Health from the Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam as a scholar of the Netherlands Fellowship Programme. Since 1995, he has been working with not-for-profit and for-profit private healthcare organizations. During about 19-years career, he worked as a family physician, community health organizer, chief medical officer and director of private and missionary hospitals, and academician. He also completed 2-years training on obstetrics and gynaecology, and 6-months course on diabetology.

He is often invited by NGOs and healthcare professional organizations as a resource person to address issues of public health interests, for example: tobacco prevention and control, maternal health, provider-client interaction in healthcare, globalization and burden of globalized diseases. He also regularly writes articles in the souvenir on the World Health Day; some examples are: Caring Heart, Healthier Life; Tobacco and Health (in 2013), and Prevention and Control of Dengue (in 2014).

Dr. Roy is a member of the Bangladesh Medical Association. As the elected general secretary of the Christian Medical Association of Bangladesh (CMAB) for 9-years, he represented CMAB in the international congresses of the abroad sister-organizations.
