Anita Nudelman is an Applied Medical Anthropologist. She teaches Qualitative Research Methods and Medical Anthropology at the Recanati School for Community Health Professions at Ben Gurion University in Israel.
For many years she directed a program on "Sexual Health and AIDS Prevention" for adolescents from different socio-cultural backgrounds in residential schools in Israel (Ministry of Education). The comprehensive educational model employed also addressed issues such as gender stereotypes and sexual abuse, while focusing on life skills development and personal empowerment. Her job included research, program development using a culture-sensitive interactive approach, mentoring and training of young sexual health educators and professionals, management and evaluation (see Practicing Anthropology article).
Nudelman has worked as a consultant in various African countries, both in research as well as in training, capacity building and educational programs. Her work has focused on different issues related to culture and health, patient-provider communication and especially on adolescent sexuality, reproductive/ sexual health and AIDS prevention.
She has organized and participated in many professional conferences and seminars and has written articles, papers and book chapters.
