Curative in localized disease

• Radical prostatectomy (total extirpation of the prostate with the seminal vesicles and vesico-urethral anastomosis). Consequence: 50% of patients are impotent Radical radiotherapy
• Palliative in metastatic disease

Hormonal (antiandrogenic) treatment: surgical castration, GnRH in combination with a non-steroidal antiandrogen
