The Oxford University Maternal and Perinatal Health Institute (OMPHI) in collaboration with the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (GFMER) has provided health professionals from Mexico City, Mexico with a three-day, free training course on The evidence-based management of Postpartum Haemorrhage. The course was developed in an e-learning format and sponsored by the Maternal Health Task Force at the Harvard School of Public Health and the funding was provided by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Facilitated by Dr. Atziri Ramírez-Negrin, the training event was held on August 16, 17, and 24, 2014 at the National Institute of Perinatology in Mexico City. There were three morning and afternoon sessions with 11-12 participants on each day who later took a 20 multiple-choice question knowledge assessment test based on the course. Participants were mostly residents of the Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Department of National Institute of Perinatology in Mexico City, one of the biggest Perinatology Hospitals in Mexico. Additional two-day training is being planned for other public hospitals in Mexico City and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
A similar training course on The Evidence-based Management of Pre-eclampsia and Eclampsia was held in the country in April 2012 - The Oxford Evidence-based Management of Pre-eclampsia and Eclampsia Training Course in Mexico City, Mexico.
