Something must stop, and that is Female Genital Mutilation. There is no excuse, no tradition, and no explanation that can justify it.
FGM is a clear violation of human rights and an abuse of the fundamental rights, and dignity of girls and women.
We joined the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, alongside other partners, to commemorate the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation through school outreach activities.
Students of Government Secondary School, Kuchigoro were sensitized on the harmful realities of Female Genital Mutilation and the lasting damage it causes.
They were encouraged to lend their voices to the global call and to their own communities, to raise awareness, challenge harmful norms, and stand firmly against this practice.
As the theme reminds us, Towards 2030: No End to Female Genital Mutilation Without Sustained Commitment and Investment, this engagement reflects our shared responsibility.
Ending Female Genital Mutilation requires consistent action, continued dialogue, commitment and today, we took another deliberate step towards that goal.
