Every mom is a working mom, the question is whether she is paid or not. This post is however a reflection and appreciation for workplaces that support nursing mothers and are accommodating to their needs.

I have enjoyed immense kindness and support from colleagues who are willing to help, whether it's giving me a break or simply being understanding of my situation.

This kind of empathy and consideration can make a significant difference in a mother's experience, especially when balancing work and caring for young children. I have lost count how many times I considered resigning (its okay if this is what is best for you).

I am a diehard fan of exclusive breastfeeding but not friend with breast pump, so when maternity leave is over, I still carry baby to work. Workplaces must recognize the diversity of experiences mothers face when returning to work after maternity leave.

Regardless of the size of your organization, it is crucial to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for nursing parents (mothers and fathers). Even as a growing organization, establishing breastfeeding corner, providing childcare options like a creche, or even organizing collective support for caregiving expenses can significantly enhance the well-being of parents and contribute positively to workplace culture and productivity (I know you love this- for real it is a win-win).

Workplaces can be more family friendly!

I am grateful to FP2030 NWCA Stand With A Girl Initiative for their support through the years.
