2026-02-25

The president of Rotary International visited Ethiopia to mark 70 years of service in the country.
During his visit, he met with H.E. President Taye Atske Selassie and H.E. Dr Mekdes Daba, the Minister of Health. They discussed Rotary's ongoing partnership in health and community development, including their shared commitment to ending polio.
He also visited two Rotary-supported health projects. At Zewditu Hospital, a global grant has supported over 3,000 mothers in preventing spina bifida. At the cardiac center, the Mending Children's Broken Hearts initiative is improving access to life-saving care for children.
The visit concluded with a "Kick Out Polio" event involving young football players and UNICEF partners, a powerful reminder that ending polio requires both vaccines and community engagement.
