Distribution of hygiene kits, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic - Laura Cristina Bretón Despradel

As part of the emergency response, we are delivering hygiene kits in the communities where Plan works and also as my projects in SRHR were canceled, to the girls that were part of them.

The main targets of our response are women head of households, adolescents, and young women (12-24 years old), and families with LGTBQ+ persons as heads of households.

The distribution of menstrual health and hygiene kits to teenage girls from 12 to 17 years old and women head of households included masks, sanitary pads, case or bag, neutral soap, hand sanitizer, towels, combs, brochures and/or leaflets on healthy menstrual hygiene practices and prevention of GBV, SRHR as well as referral mechanisms and helplines.

Something interesting is that one of the complaints from the adolescents on my projects was that their fathers and brothers were taking away their masks so did not have a way to go out (masks are mandatory in the country), so I made these new masks in a very bright pink color, so their fathers and brothers will not take them from them.
