Friendz Unite, Kaduna State is an NGO founded in 2008 by Women in response to the loss of a friend from breast cancer. The NGO organizes annual awareness walks from 5km- 10km through the city center distributing information leaflets. The event then progresses to an interactive health talk on breast cancer and risk factor modification. The lecture session was taken by GFMER Country coordinator: Dr Aisha Abubakar-Sadiq. Multiple free screening sites were made available with referral services when needed. Media outlets and the Wife of the Executive Governor were present to support the event. Prizes were also awarded to winners of the raffle draw competition. They aim to reduce the rising incidence of breast cancer, high mortality levels due to late presentation at health facilities encourage regular screening and eliminate stigma associated with reproductive health conditions in Nigeria.
