Searching for traditional medicinal plants, Entikong, West Kalimantan, Indonesia - Agus Fitriangga

This photo captures a group of researchers led by Dr. Agus Fitriangga, Indonesia country coordinator for GFMER, and community members deep in the rainforest of Entikong village, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. We were on an important mission to search for traditional medicinal plants specific to the Dayak Bidayuh indigenous community.

We were focused on identifying and documenting herbs traditionally used to enhance breast milk supply (ASI) and support women's reproductive health. This work is crucial for preserving the profound and specialized ethnobotanical knowledge held by the Dayak Bidayuh people in the remote area of Borneo's rainforest. It represents a vital effort to blend local wisdom with modern understanding to support maternal and women's well-being.
