I am a registered nurse (Bsc Nursing) in the field of Adolescent HIV and Reproductive Health, Research and Public Health. I am also a registered community health nurse (KRCHN) having graduated from the Kenya Medical Training College in 2007 with a Diploma Certificate. I possess several other specialized professional training in Global Child and Adolescent Health from University of Melbourne; Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) by National AIDS and STI Control Program, Kenya; Advanced Clinical management of HIV from University of Washington and HTS/Voluntary Testing and Counseling (VCT) with Liverpool VCT Program amongst others. I am currently pursuing a Public Health Graduate program at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

I have over 10 years’ experience coordinating facility and community studies/projects targeting pediatrics, adolescents infected and affected by HIV (ALWA) and vulnerable young mothers living with HIV. I have on many occasions supported in the establishment and implementation of a variety of prevention, care and treatment interventions around HIV, SRHR and psychosocial/rehabilitation programs aimed at improving the general health outcomes of adolescent and young women. I have successfully supported in establishing models of best care and intervention for young people that include; youth friendly centers, differentiated adolescent clinic days, camps, social events, support groups, community outreach and peer led programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Kenya. I have also administered all aspects of project/research studies and engaged in related research development process including analyzing, writing abstracts and disseminated results to improve practice.

At the present time, I focus on the strategic implementation of a multifaceted youth program launched in 2011 and a peer led psychosocial programming and services to augment HIV medical treatment provided to adolescent and their families. I provide leadership through coordination to health care providers and peer supporters as they provide adolescent friendly services to adolescent both affected and infected with HIV within Kisumu County.

My passion and interest is in improving the general health outcomes of adolescent and young girls/women by engaging in related researches /projects. I also have interest in HIV prevention and SRH issues amongst women and particularly HIV at risk and vulnerable population in our society such as young girls and commercial sex workers.

This training is timely.
