Berchmans is the founder of Globemed Rwanda chapter which is the first non-USA Globemed chapter to be founded. He is an undergraduate program leader of Health People Rwanda (HPR), a non-profit non-governmental organization. He has previously served as general secretary and also as vice-president of Medical Students Association in Rwanda (MEDSAR). He has been a student leader of Medical Student for Choice (MSFC) Rwanda chapter and now acts as a consultant of MSFC Rwanda chapter on the board of alumni. He designs and coordinates sexual and reproductive health projects in Rwanda, like reaching teens and youth in high schools with sexual and reproductive health services through their teachers, sweet net project, and youth leaders in Rwanda. He is also a consultant of Ingabo Safe Site Initiative. He is an active member of Rwanda Village on Concept Project and he is the founder of swimming for health association in Rwanda.
