I am Maryam Moradi and I was born in December 1979. I am currently living in Canberra with my husband and daughter. I am an Iranian-trained midwife who has completed a Bachelor of Midwifery at Shahid Beheshti University, and subsequently a Master in Midwifery with research at Tehran University. During my Master of Midwifery, I completed a pretty large clinical trial on pre-menstrual syndrome.

I have been awarded a scholarship from the Health Ministry of Iran for a PhD in Reproductive Health, and when I complete my PhD I will be committed to work for Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in an academic role.

I am currently a third-year PhD candidate at the Australian National University Medical School. I am doing research on a chronic illness, endometriosis. My PhD thesis is titled, “Development of a questionnaire to measure the impact of endometriosis on women's lives". Under the supervision of Prof. Ellwood, we are conducting a research project using combined qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the impact of endometriosis, as a chronic disease, on various domains of women’s lives, including their educational, economic and emotional well-being. This project has been presented both nationally and internationally, and my previous studies regarding clinical trials in the field of premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea in Iran were published in national peer-reviewed journals.

I am a member of Reproductive Health Professionals – Iran, the Iranian Society of Midwives and the Medical Council Organization of Iran (No: M-18277).
