Organisation and Structure
The Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research, the WHO Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health Cluster (WHO/NMH) – in collaboration with the Department of Health of the Canton of Geneva, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva and the Geneva Medical Association - are accepting applications to the Course: From Research to Practice: Postgraduate Training in Chronic Disease. The purpose of this course is to provide postgraduate training in research methodology and to acquaint trainees with the most recent technological advances in their areas of research.
The course is structured as follows:
Methodological Issues in Health Research (2 weeks) covering: Study designs, critical appraisal, screening, research synthesis, strategies for data analysis.
This two-weeks course is followed by specialist modules:
Chronic Disease (4 weeks): Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, Substance Abuse, Mental Health, Obesity, Cancer, Integrated NCD Prevention, Health Promotion, Surveillance
The course is given by lecturers associated to Swiss medical institutions and by advisers and staff of WHO.
The course will lead to a Certificate. The Certificate can be obtained after 6 weeks intensive training followed by oral and written exams.
