Prof. Jayam Kannan from the rural India has graduated with outstanding academic status and obtained the national merit scholarship for her studies. Thanks to my hard work, I received the First rank in the state of Tamilnadu in Under graduate medical education and became the proud winner of President of India award. Postgraduation in Obstetrics and gynecology also earned me the prestigious A.L. Mudaliar Award for coming out as first in the University.
I am continuing my professional service as well as the academic work. I try to learn and improve in the Obstetric Ultrasonogram, Endoscopy procedures and In vitro Fertilisation.
Currently I am the Emeritus professor of Tamilnadu MGR Medical University and the course director of the course of Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine.
I am currently working on the
- Long term follow up of PCOS.I started the study in 2001,currently 1100 patients on followup.
- I am also working on the Efficacy of Intravenous Iron therapy in pregnant women.
- 17OH Progesterone caproate in prevention of preterm labour.
I have a family of a son and daughter both are medical graduates with specialization in Orthopedics and Genetics respectively.
As an active teacher in the Federation of Obstetrician and Gynecologist of India (FOGSI), I had the chance to travel through all the country and give lectures in 224 societies spread allover the country.
From January 2013 I will be part of the training programme of JHPIEGO In India Aimed at reducing the maternal morbidity and death due to Haemorrhages in pregnancy,under the able leadership of Prof Hema Divakar who is taking over as the President of FOGSI India.
