Health sector response to addressing FGM: Advocacy, strategic health planning and FGM Research – overview of ethical guidance

Group assignment

Question 1

Conduct a situational assessment for your selected country.

Guidance is available in the Group work presentations templates set with e-links.

TIP: Use some of your responses for questions 1 in both module 1 and 2.

Question 2

  1. Identify priority areas that your institution (ministry of health, NGO, health facility etc) can address in one year time to address the gaps
  2. Develop a theory of change (ToC) for the priority area/s identified

TIP: Guidance is available in the Group work presentations templates with examples.

Question 3

  1. Flesh out the proposed activities from the ToC into WHO’s four pillars of action detailing the implementing entity/responsible person, timeline, facilitators and barriers (how to overcome them)
  2. If advocacy activities are foreseen develop an advocacy plan
  3. Select the activities that can be implemented in coming three months

Required:

  1. Group discussion: Each group to decide on the country they will use to go through all the three questions.
  2. Write up: Research, compile and write up your answers into the PowerPoint presentation template shared. Share the tasks to ensure that every member of the group contributes to the write up.
  3. Final output: Completed PowerPoint presentation for the three questions:
    1. Country situational assessment (1 slide)
    2. Country or health facility Theory of Change (1 slide) and
    3. Country or health facility plans using WHO’s four pillars (10 - 12 slides).
  4. Submit your final group assignment to the course email.
  5. Post your final group assignment in the Main Group of the course "FGM2023" for peer comments.
