Miss Palikena Kaude is a Malawian, born on 17th January, 1985. She graduated from the University of Malawi-Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2008 with Bachelor of Science in Nursing and obtained Postgraduate University Certificate in Midwifery in 2010 at University of Malawi-Kamuzu College of Nursing. In addition, Palikena has certificates of International Project Management and Management in Health obtained at GIZ-e-learning Centre (June-July 2014) and World Bank Group e-learning Institute (August-Sept 2016) respectively. She has worked as a Registered Nurse/Midwife at Ministry of Health in Malawi at Ntcheu District Hospital (Dec 2008-July 2012) and during this period she was assigned as the Safe-motherhood Coordinator for the District. Currently she is the Project Team Lead for Maternal Health Alliance Project at CARE International in Malawi, a project that aims to promote participatory Governance through engaging communities, service providers, decision makers and other stakeholders to improve Maternal and Neonatal Health services in Ntcheu District.
Her Undergraduate research was on Knowledge and attitudes on Tubal Ligation as a Contraceptive Method among women. She has shown interest in Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and initiated Focus Group Discussion to assess SRH needs of the youths in Ntcheu. She has participated in several forums at District, National and International level sharing Governance work in relation to Maternal Health.
