I work as a Nurse at the St. Dominic Hospital, Akwatia-Ghana, the biggest hospital situated in a rural area. It is one of the National Catholic Health Service facilities which is part of the network of Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) institutions.
I am based at the Reproductive and child health unit where I work in a team with preventive staff. We run antenatal clinic, postnatal clinic, child welfare clinic, eMTCT and Counseling services to clients. We also run antiretroviral treatment center.
In addition, we carry out curative and other health promotion activities in the hospital and support students in various fields of health with hands-on skills during their internship training in our facility.
Furthermore, we run outreach services to the communities entailing different program packages on reproductive and child health services.
I am much concerned about maternal health, focusing primarily to promote family planning among adolescents.
