Mr. Alie Malcolm Vandi-tarawally was born on the 13th day of August in 1986 at Nixon Memorial Hospital in a town called Segbwema in Kailahun District, Eastern Sierra Leone by Mr. Stephen Momoh Vandi-tarawally and Mrs. Francess Yatta Vandi-tarawally. Alie is married and blessed with a lovely daughter. He graduated in 2013 from Njala University with honours degree in Public Health. He is currently pursuing MPH program at Njala University. He held the position of District Contact Tracing Monitor during the EVD outbreak with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) but the contract ended March 31 this year and has returned to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) as Public Health Superintendent attached to health care waste department.
During his undergraduate study, he was very much interested in student unionism and the development of public health so he and other colleagues came together to form the Njala University Public Health Association (NUPHA) and he held the positions of organizing secretary and vice president in 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 academic years respectively of NUPHA. He also became Team Leader for the district contact monitoring team for UNFPA during the EVD outbreak.
