Hi, I am Dr. Ravinder Kumar, a 34 years-old doctor, who is interested in Adolescents Sexual and Reproductive Health concerns. I am currently employed by Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of Himachal Pradesh-India.
I did my graduation in life science in 1997, medicine and surgery in 2003 from Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla -India. Thereafter, I started my career as medical officer in one of the remotest Primary Health Centre of the State. I provided curative, preventive and promotive health services to the people in jurisdiction of the PHC.

In 2007, I joined Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Chandigarh-India as a MPH scholar; where I had extensive studies in core subjects like epidemiology, biostatistics, health management, health promotion, and research methodology. During my MPH studies, I took part in many small scientific research projects including the mandatory dissertation titled as “Evaluation of the functioning of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working in Health sector in Chandigarh-India”. In fact many of the NGOs under my study were actually working for adolescents group, high risk groups for HIV/AIDS. It was the time when I was motivated to work for the cause of adolescent’s reproductive and sexual health concerns.

Upon completion of MPH, I was employed as a Medical lecturer cum Demonstrator in State Health and Family Welfare Training Centre Parimahal Shimla which is an apex technical institute entrusted for carrying out operational research, capacity building and programme management.

Besides carrying out an additional work of OSD (Officer Special Duty), I work as a training coordinator and resource person for most of the National Health programmes of India including NRHM/RCH/NACP. I am conducting orientation programmes for Medical officers and paramedics on Adolescents friendly Reproductive and Sexually Health services in Himachal Pradesh. In fact, I am working closely with the medical officer- in charges and the trainees for ensuring the quality of health services at the ARSH clinics in their respective health institutions, and developing the monitoring and evaluation mechanism.
