I, Desalegn Getachew Zeru, a 33 years old who is interested in the Sexual and Reproductive Health. I am currently employed in The Johns Hopkins University of Public Health Center For Communication Programs, AIDS Resource Center, Ethiopia field office as a position of hotline counselor which is actively working on HIV/AIDS, STI’s , TB and RH/FP in the provision of counseling , information and referral services in different languages for 7 days a week for 16 hours each day all over the country.
I graduated in 2010 at Addis Ababa University with a Master Degree in Counseling Psychology. During my studies I did my research on a topic of comparative study of burnout and coping strategies among counselors in online and face to face counseling settings and I had got an excellent grade in my thesis. I also graduated in 2008 in the same university with a Bachelor Degree in Applied Psychology with excellent grade. In addition to this, I also again graduated in Diploma nurse in Addis Ababa University Medical Faculty in Black Lion Centralized School of Nursing in 1998.
Since from graduated Nursing school, I was employed in different Governmental and Non governmental organizations. I was working in various positions such as Health Care Services and Training Coordinator, Health Care Services Department Head, HIV/AIDS and other STI’s, In addition to TB and Leprosy Prevention and Control Coordinator. I also worked on a position of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) nurse for a total more than 13 years work experiences.
This training course on sexual and reproductive health research will increase my knowledge and skills to contribute a great implication for the provision of effective and efficient Counseling, Information and Referral services on sexual and reproductive issues for the nations.
