The Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (GFMER) in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) has been conducting Postgraduate Research Training in Reproductive Health for doctors from all over the world since 1991. In order to disseminate the course to participants in different countries, GFMER is collaborating with Universities/Institutions
It is planned to conduct Postgraduate Training in Reproductive Health Research at the Faculty of Medicine of University of Yaounde I in collaboration with GFMER and WHO from 12 November to 13 December 2007.

Objectives

General Objectives:

After completing the training, the participants will be able to write a dissertation (in English or in French) based on the research studies conducted.

Specific Objectives:

After completing the training, the participant will:

  1. Acquire the knowledge and skill of research methodology.
  2. be acquainted with new developments in reproductive medicine and reproductive biology
  3. be competent to use internet, Medline, Cochrane & WHO Reproductive Library and to communicate with others
  4. be competent in conducting/writing systematic literature review
  5. be competent in writing research proposals
  6. be conducting the above-mentioned research-studies
  7. publish the results of the studies in International Journals
  8. write a dissertation based on the above-mentioned published articles

Language

The training will be conducted both in English and/or in French. Cameroon is a bilingual country; both French and English are official languages.

Organization

The training is organized by The Coordinator of Specialization Cycle in Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Yaounde I (FMSB - UY I); The Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (GFMER), The UNDP/UNFPA/WHO/World Bank Special Programme for Research in Human Reproduction, Department of Reproductive Health and Research, Family and Community Health Cluster World Health Organization (WHO/RHR); The International Association of Maternal and Neonatal Health (IAMANEH).

Funding

The training course is organized thanks to the financial support of the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research and of the "Service de la Solidarité Internationale" of the Canton of Geneva.
