Youth orientation about sexual and reproductive health issues in emergency situations, Kathmandu Valley, Nepal
In order to enhance the youth’s knowledge about sexual and reproductive health services and sexual education, a one day youth orientation about SRH issues was organized for June 3, 2014 with the participation of 30 youths from the Kathmandu Valley.
At this orientation, emergency situations included any kind of disaster that destroys someone’s daily life, such as floods, landslides, fires, earthquakes etc. We oriented the youth about how to provide SRH services such as maternal health, child health, family planning services, and prevention of HIV/STIs.
The objectives of the programme were as followed:
- To orient the youth about SRH issues in a humanitarian setting.
- To enhance the knowledge of youth on SRH and advocate for their SRH rights and services.
- To explore the roles and responsibilities of youth to address SRH issues in emergency situations.
