Before joining Population Council, Emmanuel worked with Management Sciences for Health (MSH) as Technical Advisor/State Team Leader for the Leadership, Management and Governance Project in Akwa Ibom State on health systems strengthening in three areas: pilot programme to engage traditional birth attendants to improve Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health services and increase PMTCT uptake, community based health insurance programme, and Fellowship Programme for lower cadre health workers. Prior to joining MSH, Emmanuel worked in the field of research from 2008 till December 2013 with Health Policy Research Group College of Medicine UNEC as Research Officer where he led the project on implementation of Cost Effectiveness Analysis of Alternative Strategies to Deploy Artemicinin Combination Therapy at Community Levels, qualitative and quantitative research in malaria, community based health insurance scheme [CBHI] HIV/AIDS, and MCH as a project site coordinator and M&E/quality assurance officer, local epidemic appraisal [LEA] of HIV in Anambra state which is a World Bank funded project for Anambra SACA from April 2012 – October 2012. Emmanuel has in several occasions led the getting of the research findings into policy and practice workshops [GRIPP].
