I am a Medical Doctor. I received my medical training at the Nangarhar University, Afghanistan and have completed Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Jodhpur National University (JNU), India.

I founded the NGO, Youth Health and Development Organization (YHDO) in 2009 and am its current Executive Director. YHDO primary focus is to offer a range of services to Afghan youth and other marginalized groups in the wider society. Our vision is a socially inclusive Afghanistan where in the youth are empowered to exercise their rights in all spheres of their lives. YHDO is founded on the principles equity, human rights, social inclusion and justice. Its institutional policies and procedures are founded on the principles of equality, transparency, accountability and democratic governance.

Furthermore, I have received the international human rights defender award of for the year 2013, awarded by The U.S. Department of State. The Human Rights Defender Award is given to individuals or non- governmental organizations that have shown exceptional valor and leadership in advocating for the protection of human rights and democracy. I worked with several international organizations during my professional career:

  • Worked as National Professional Officer (NPO) for HIV and STIs with World Health Organization (WHO), from Feb 2010 to October 2011.
  • Worked as independent consultant for study on Rapid Assessment of Male Vulnerabilities to HIV and Sexual Exploitation, conducted by Naz Foundation International (NFI) 2008/09.
  • Worked as Medical Coordinator for HIV and AIDS with ActionAid Afghanistan, March 2007 to December 2009.
  • Worked as project coordinator for a Mapping and situation assessment of HIV/AIDS high risk groups in Afghanistan with University of Manitoba, Canada, funded by World Bank.
  • Worked as Training Coordinator/Master Trainer with AMI (Aid Medicale International) june2005 to July 2006.
