Carlos Encinas began his studies in biological sciences in 2002 at Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, Bolivia, and was awarded his Bachelor’s degree in 2009, with a major in molecular biology and genetics. In 2008, he was awarded an honors degree for his academic performance by the Faculty of Pure and Natural Sciences. He began his research career studying tropical diseases in pregnant women and infants using molecular biology techniques. In 2007, he joined the Assisted Reproduction Unit as laboratory technician at EMBRIOVID in La Paz, Bolivia. His present position is head of the andrology laboratory and A.R.T. laboratory at EMBRIOVID. He is a board member of the Bolivian Society of Human Genetics. His research interests include various aspects of embryology and the application of new technologies for increasing success rates in IVF programs, and also human reproductive biology at high altitude.
